Improved capabilities include help desk, security and cloud application migration
ATLANTA, GA–(UTG – Jun 12, 2014) – UTG, one of the largest providers of managed and professional services in the Atlanta area, has acquired Viant Solutions. The acquisition enhances UTG’s existing small business services in areas including help desk support, security and implementation of cloud-based applications such as Microsoft Office 365 and Salesforce.
UTG, founded in 2004 and headquartered in Suwanee, Ga., serves hundreds of small, mid-sized and enterprise businesses throughout the region and is listed on Inc. Magazine’s list of the 5000 fastest growing American companies. Viant Solutions, also of Suwanee, was founded in 2005 and serves small companies with 10-50 employees, many of which have no internal IT staff.
Among UTG’s specialties are advanced 24/7 network monitoring, management and support, providing Viant Solutions’ customers with faster detection and remediation of network issues. UTG’s project management capabilities will ensure Viant Solutions’ technical professionals continue to focus on customer service rather than scheduling and other logistical chores.
Viant Solutions’ help desk capabilities will help UTG support more small clients. Its experience in cloud migration will also enable UTG to move more small businesses from aging on-premise technology to less expensive and more flexible cloud-based solutions, such as office productivity and customer relationship management systems.
In addition, Viant Solutions’ experience in unified threat management (UTM) will give growing companies faster, more economical compliance with security and regulatory requirements such as those imposed by the SEC and HIPAA.
“This acquisition allows us to better serve small firms with no internal IT function while also providing the skill sets, platforms and expertise required by mid-market firms that do have internal IT and thus have different requirements of an outside strategic partner,” said UTG CEO Eric Dykes. “It will also build on UTG’s experience leveraging technologies such as cloud and virtualization to support higher numbers of transactions, growing workforces, and additional locations as our clients expand,” he said.
“We have helped a number of growing firms, including some of Inc. Magazine’s fastest growing 5000, scale their IT capabilities to support their rapid growth. We love it when we help a small business client become a mid-market business, and can see them through every phase of that growth,” said Dykes.
“One of the things we’re most proud of is how we partner with a client to help them plan and strategize,” said Viant Solutions CEO John Dolan. “Some have email in the cloud, some have email on-premise, some are using hosted CRM, and some are using no CRM at all. We tailor the technology to each client’s needs, rather than trying to squeeze them into a ‘one size fits all’ solution.”
Dolan also looks forward to bringing cloud-based applications such as Office 365 and Salesforce to more clients, “CRM is one of the most valuable tools for a growing company, and one of the most underutilized. We’re excited by the opportunity to help our customers take better advantage of the customer information they already have.”
“The two companies also share a common vision of providing outstanding service to clients in a culture that embraces teamwork, family and service,” said Dolan.
Terms for the acquisition, effective June 1, were not disclosed. The combined company has a staff of 42.
