THE CHALLENGE: PointClear faced a quick office relocation in the final months of 2010. Carrie Surprenant, Vice President of Solution Support for PointClear, handled the move for the company and relied heavily on her relationship with UTG for technology guidance during this condensed timeframe. “We finalized our plans to move with just four months remaining before our move-out date,” said Carrie. “This felt like a real time crunch to address so many aspects of our company’s move. Our new space had a smaller footprint, and we knew that we needed to immediately begin addressing the proper technology for the new space, especially with this compressed timeline.”
THE SOLUTION: Once learning of the move, UTG quickly scheduled a meeting with PointClear to get a firm understanding of the pending move, the new location and how that synced with the company’s vision for the future. This information equipped UTG with the right data to make informed technology recommendations that would meet short-term needs and long-term expectations.
UTG provided a full review of PointClear’s technology, including the recommendation of an offsite backup plan and a Mitel voice solution. The backup solution was quickly implemented in the old office space to protect data and guarantee stability prior to the move.
THE RESULTS: “Despite not giving UTG a lot of time to make recommendations, they were great consultants, guiding us in the right direction and presenting the best options that were reasonably priced,” said Carrie. “Once we signed contracts for the recommended solutions, equipment was arriving the next week and our relocation project already had great momentum.”
“Because we fully trusted UTG and their recommendations, it was a great relief to count on them to handle all partner communication and scheduling,” said Carrie. “Once the actual move was in progress, we shut off our network at 3PM on a Wednesday afternoon and UTG leapt into action for the final aspects of the switchover. When staff arrived in the new office on Thursday morning at 8AM, they couldn’t believe that all their computers, phones, email and printers simply worked! “
